This is the first film I ever made. In my first video production course we were assigned to make a photo roman after watching La Jetée. I used two poems that I had already written in a poetry class that I thought I could tie together with this piece.

Elegy
I’m sorry for not saying goodbye,
Standing at the foot of the bed
On my way out the door.
My eyes slowly leaking
Brackish droplets onto my face
Like the dew on the drooping peonies.
Slants of light strike the bed through the blinds, bend around the machines, and wrap you in golden bands.
Two weeks go by—we gather under the steeple.
The flames on the altar are suffocated,
Goodbye.
These tears, my beard of wisdom.
Wake
Cars follow in precession
Like the vultures gliding above
Congregating at their destination
The vultures spiraling down
They drink and dine
The vultures tear meat from bone
